Welcome to Sixth Form
Your Journey Starts Here
In 2019 students are celebrated a host of impressive A level results, with almost one-fifth of grades at A*/A or equivalent.
To be successful, Sixth Formers need to be working extensively outside lesson time. For every 1 hour lesson they have, they need to be working for 1 hour independently. All Sixth Formers are issued with a planner so they can effectively manage their time.
GCSE Mathematics at Grade 5 or above.
GCSE English Language or Literature at Grade 5 or above.
4 other subjects at Grade 4 or above (this includes BTECs at Merit or Distinction).
At Barr Beacon Sixth Form we expect students to abide by the dress code. Visit the link below to see our guidelines.

16-19 Bursary Fund
Students in the Sixth Form who are in need of some minor financial support for purchasing books, transport, meals and equipment can apply to our 16 to 19 Bursary Fund. We are committed to distributing bursaries to those students with the greatest need.
Complete the Bursary Fund Application Form. Paper copies are available from the Sixth Form Office or pinned to the noticeboard in the Sixth Form Common Room. Complete the application as soon as possible. This will need to be submitted by the end of September to guarantee you will receive your first payment. However, you can apply at any point for subsequent payments.
Payments will be paid directly into your bank account. Therefore, make sure you complete these details on the Bursary Application Form carefully.
Payments will be made at three times throughout the year. You will receive the first payment in the Autumn Term. The second will be in the Spring Term and the third in the Summer Term. Only those students who are committed to their studies will receive Bursary payments. A committed student will be meeting the following achievement and attendance targets: attendance of 95% or above, good or outstanding for all effort and homework, working at grades on (amber) or above (green) baseline for all of their courses.
