This year we ran 2 amazing charity fundraising events.  Over 100 pupils participated in our 25 laps of the ampitheatre equaling 2.5km for the #challenge25 campaign.  We raised an incredible £251.45. 

Our donut sale on Friday 14^th November was a huge success with donuts selling out faster than Oasis tickets.  A huge £166.30 was raised.  

This is an incredible £417.15 raised in total for BBC Children in Need 2025.

The event was led by the Cadet Forces from each school, who played a central role in the commemorations, including readings, the laying of wreaths, and leading the Trust-wide act of remembrance. Their pride, discipline, and respect set the tone for a moving and meaningful occasion.

At 11:00am, pupils, staff, and guests across the Trust joined together in the Two Minutes' Silence, uniting as one community to remember those who gave their lives in service of others.

We are incredibly proud of the way our schools came together — standing side by side to honour the past, reflect on the present, and look with hope towards the future. A huge thank you to Etone College for hosting the event and to Elmwood School for joining us for their first trust wide event.

This summer, one in five grades awarded were at the highest levels of A–A*, and more than half of all grades achieved were A*–B. Students studying Applied General qualifications also excelled, with the average grade awarded at Distinction+.

These results are a testament not only to their efforts, but also to the dedication of our staff and the unwavering support of parents and carers. Among this year’s many successes, R Woodhall achieved an A* in English, an A in History and a Distinction* in Media Studies. M Singh earned an A* in Biology, an A in Chemistry and an A in Computer Science. A Singh secured a Distinction* in Business, an A* in Psychology and an A in Sociology. T Hunt achieved straight As in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, while J Doody earned Distinction* and Distinction in both Business and Sports Science alongside an A in Psychology. We look forward to seeing what all of our students go on to achieve as they take their next steps into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment."

"It has been a privilege to see our Year 13 students grow into confident, capable young adults over the past two years. Our school community has wholeheartedly backed this charity in a number of ways, including a community sports event that raised £385 and charity collection jars that brought in over £625. But we didn’t stop there!

We also wanted to bring our community together through our house system by organising a walk up each house hill — a smaller version of the Matrix Staff 3 Peaks Challenge. Forty successful applicants joined their Head of House to climb Clent, Bredon, Wrekin or Malvern. Braving high temperatures, our pupils raised over £6,000 through this challenge alone.

Fundraising is still going strong. What a wonderful display of community spirit in support of a great cause!

The cadets spent the morning learning about effective leadership styles & skills. In the afternoon it was thier turn to be assessed practically in a number of tricky tasks designed to test their management of a team, resources and time.  

All of the cadets had a great time, learnt a lot about managing a team and achieved their Bronze Leadership Badges – Well Done!

• A snippet of your performance can be submitted. Please do not worry about submitting a performance in its entirety.
• Your teacher will be able to submit your performance video to the judging panel.
• Finalists will have the opportunity to perform at our next big trust event and some school events this year.
• Solo entries and group entries are welcome.

This event emphasised the importance of the performing arts in shaping well-rounded individuals. The confidence, discipline, and teamwork required in these artistic disciplines provide invaluable life skills that extend far beyond the stage.

The success of this event is a testament to the thriving performing arts community within our Trust schools. It’s clear that the future of dance, drama, and music is in good hands. With such incredible talent on display, it’s exciting to think about the future performances and productions that will emerge from these talented young artists.

The group then travelled to the iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, where they explored the fascinating geographical landscapes and got some delicious ice cream. Students observed first-hand the impact of rock type and lithology on the coastal features, further enhancing their understanding of coastal processes and landforms. After a busy day, we returned to PGL for a well-earned evening meal, followed by an early night to rest and prepare for two more days of learning and exploration.

Sunday saw us visiting various coastal sites to investigate coastal management strategies. A poignant moment of the day came when we participated in a one-minute silence at Lyme Regis War Memorial, where we also witnessed part of the Remembrance Day parade. It was a meaningful opportunity for reflection, adding depth to the trip’s educational experience. The day concluded with a beautiful sunset on Chesil Beach, offering a stunning and memorable end to a packed day.

On Monday, students explored Weymouth, where they investigated the town's regeneration efforts and its historical development. The visit provided valuable insight into how urban areas evolve over time, offering real-world examples of geographical theories in action.

Overall, the trip was a fantastic success, offering our students the chance to apply their knowledge in the field and gain a deeper understanding of geographical processes. It was a memorable experience for all involved, and we are grateful to both the staff and pupils for making it such a rewarding trip. We look forward to seeing how this fieldwork contributes to their learning and NEA projects in the future.

On Friday 8th November, Matrix Academy Trust held their annual trust wide remembrance service. A small contingent of cadets and staff from each of schools joined together, this year hosted by Wednesfield Academy. Whilst any parade is a spectacle of respect to behold, this one particularly hit home the unity that encompasses Great Britain. All our schools joining together, each represented by model student leaders to show their respects.

As the parade began our CCF commanders were joined by Lord-Lieutenant Derrick Anderson CBE, as the sovereign’s representative for the West Midlands, for the event. Lord-Lieutenant Anderson joined our CEO, Headteachers along with other dignitaries to view the exemplary collection of cadets who had turned out with immaculate uniform.

Following an inspection, the traditional poem ‘In Flanders Field’ was read out as Sixth Form pupils from Wednesfield underlined that ‘We will remember them!’. With the last post playing the attendees, school and Trust observed a two-minute silence to pay respect to all of those who have sacrificed for us.

We are so proud of our cadets, and everyone involved for emphasising the importance of remembrance.
