This week our cohort of new SCITT trainees have been taking part in our pre-course induction. This week has enabled trainees to get to know the course and their fellow trainees before the start of the course in September. The week has seen a range of exciting activities and sessions, including a whole day of team building activities.
On Monday the trainees received a formal introduction to the SCITT. The brand new trainee cohort learned about how the SCITT works and got to grips with the year ahead.
Tuesday focussed on the development of a trainee teacher with a specific focus on critical reflection and the type of teacher the trainees want to become. The trainees were even challenged to make the largest freestanding spaghetti tower and evaluate their performance against the objectives.
Wednesday was about all things teambuilding. The trainees spent the day at the fabulous outdoors experience centre The Edge Adventure in Much Wenlock. In the morning the trainees got to know their new colleagues better through activities including archery and Jacob’s ladder. The afternoon saw trainees develop effective collaborative skills as they pitted their wits against a blindfold challenge, a numbered race and a ‘don’t drop the ball’ challenge. Well done to the winning team!
On Thursday the SCITT introduced the trainees to key concepts in Professional Studies, which allowed the trainees to engage in discussions and debates.
An excellent time was had by all on the pre-course induction week and we look forward to officially welcoming all of our trainees onto the course in September.
